Crank Arm Brewing Company Brings Home a Silver Medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival® Competition

World’s largest professional beer competition recognizes the brewery’s Whitewall Wheat in the American-Belgo category

Raleigh, NC • September 23, 2023 — Crank Arm Brewing Company was awarded a silver medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, hosted and presented by the Brewers Association®.

Medals presented during the Great American Beer Festival competition are globally acknowledged as emblems of brewing excellence and remain among the most sought-after accolades within the brewing community. In the 2023 competition, top-tier brews spanning 99 beer categories across 175 different beer styles (including all subcategories) received prestigious gold, silver, and bronze medals. These coveted awards were unveiled during an intimate ceremony held at the Bellco Theatre in Denver on Saturday, September 23, 2023, as part of the Great American Beer Festival. The ceremony was livestreamed via The Brewing Network, ensuring worldwide access to this celebration of brewing excellence.

Crank Arm Brewing was recognized in the American-Belgo beer-style category for its Whitewall Wheat, a take on a Belgian classic Witbier. While using traditional wheat malt and Belgian yeast typical of Wit style beers, they do not add coriander or orange zest instead they utilize American variety Citra hops for flavor, aroma and dry hop. The bouquet and palate of this beer is juicy grapefruit with a hint of grassiness. Light in body, this beer drinks well year-round but is exceptional when the weather gets warm. Crank Arm Brewing Company is a 1600 barrel microbrewery. Crank Arm Brewing is celebrating 10 years of beer love and bike love. Their nationally recognized award-winning beer is available at the downtown Raleigh, NC tasting room, bars, restaurants, and grocery stores throughout the Triangle.

“This is the third time that Whitewall has been recognized at the Great American Beer Festival. We can safely say that Whitewall is one of the best examples of this style of beer in the nation,” said  Adam Eckhardt , Founder at Crank Arm Brewing.

The Great American Beer Festival is possible in part thanks to a Professional Judge Panel comprising of 250 judges from around the world, as well as more than 300 volunteers. Throughout three phases over nine days, 9,200+ entries were evaluated from 2,033 breweries from all 50 states plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

“The Great American Beer Festival competition serves as a platform for the finest brews from around the world to undergo rigorous scrutiny to earn the title of ‘the best of the best,’” remarked Chris Williams, competition director of the Great American Beer Festival. “The beer community’s unwavering commitment to pushing the frontiers of innovation and quality is truly commendable.
